Dykeman Headshot Portraits
WHEN: October 11th & October 27th
TIME: 10:00 AM (10/11) and 9:00 AM (10/27)
WHERE: 1716 W Marine View Dr, Everett, WA 98201
DETAILS: Each session will only take a couple of minutes. Several pictures will be taken - the best portrait will be chosen and professionally retouched (natural skin smoothing, redness reduction, blemish removal, and teeth whitening).
GENERAL TIPS:
CLOTHES:
Clothes should be neatly pressed and should look new (don't wait until the day of your picture to unfold that new shirt - otherwise you will end up with those pesky new clothes fold lines).
Make sure your clothes fit well - clothes look more flattering if they are fitted rather than baggy.
Avoid all white and all black shirts (unless the black shirt or jacket has obvious texture). Charcoal is a good substitute for black. Jewel tones look great outdoors! Avoid neon and other extra bright colors.
Avoid overly busy patterns/prints - we want the focus on you (and not your shirt)!
No logos (unless you are wearing a company branded shirt).
Don’t worry about your shoes - only your shirt and the top section of your pants will be pictured.
Check with your company to determine if there are any specific clothing requirements.
Whatever you choose, make sure you feel good wearing it. If you feel good, it will show!
HAIR:
Hair should be clean and neatly trimmed but do not get a haircut the day before. Try and schedule your hair cut about a week beforehand - that way any strong cut lines will have a chance to grow and blend in. If you typically color your hair - be sure your hair has been touched up recently.
Nose and Ear hair - pay attention to those stubborn hairs in your nose and ear. We recommend trimming those hairs before the session. We can retouch some minor ones but it's always better to take care of them before the session
Facial Hair - if you normally have facial hair - make sure it is neatly trimmed. If you do not normally have facial hair, be sure and shave the morning of your session. If you are someone who ends up with a strong "5 o'clock shadow" - we recommend scheduling your appointment in the morning.
NO HATS - do not wear a hat before your session - otherwise you will end up with "hat hair" and a red line across your forehead.
SKIN:
Leave blemishes alone - do not try to cover them up with makeup. Most blemishes are easily retouched but retouching is more difficult (and less natural) if additional makeup has been added.
Avoid sunscreen on the morning of your session. Sunscreen is reflective and can cause your skin to look shiny.
Take it easy with the sun a few days before the session. A fresh sunburn will not look good in your headshots and is not something that can be touched up well.
Stay hydrated - drink plenty of water the week of your headshot. You will be nicely surprised how much better your skin will look! Try to avoid sugary drinks.
Rest - you want to look rested, confident and energized in your headshot. Try to go to bed earlier the day before your headshot to make sure you at least get your 8 hours of sleep.
